Central Animal Facility

The responsibilities of the Central Animal Facility (BIC) are:

  • provide adequate living conditions for all animals under its guard and responsibility, for the purpose of teaching, research and outreach;
  • control the species of animals in all aspects inherent to their reproduction, health and maintenance;
  • meet the needs of UFSC departments with biological models intended for research, teaching and outreach;
  • collaborate on the training and improvement of professionals in its area of competence;
  • sustain the sharing of experiences with other similar entities aiming at improving its staff and conduct searches of new technologies;
  • perform other activities inherent to the area or that may be delegated by the Rector.
